Politifact points out how the federal government redistributes taxes back to the states and uses that as the premise for giving it a "pants on fire rating".
Well I give politifact a "pants on fire" rating on this one as everyone knows that he was talking about the redistribution to the individual through all the new programs that have been started in the 60's and on. Well yes, the original idea started in the 1930s with Roosevelt's New Deal, it didn't get to the abusive level like is is today which started and have been greatly expanding since the 60's. Also note that the work component of welfare has ignored, so that this means that there is a true redistribution from one person to another. That has “never been a characteristic of America”, I agree!
I have found many of the items that they give bad ratings on, to be this, so I would never recommend that anyone use them as a fact checker.
You ask who to use, I can only recommend YOURSELF! do your home work and get involved and be aware of not what people say but what they do. Look at what they say that can be easily checked, like if a person says "I have never worked hard". Check there daily schedule that by law has to be posted for all federal and some state officials. See what they are really doing.
